Network Operations Engineer
Network Operations Engineer performs technical problem resolution, in a high stress environment, including analysis, trouble isolation and repair. Performs proactive monitoring, configuration management and fault resolution of complex voice and data services.
Has direct interaction and escalates troubles internally and externally (LEC's and other carriers).
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience with LAN, WAN, and WLAN administration.
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Working knowledge of core routing and switching design principles, best practices, and related technologies.
- Experience in implementing and managing voice over IP (VoIP) systems desired.
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including routers, switches (layer 2/3), firewalls, remote access, DNS, BGP, OSPF, VLAN, QoS and Metro Ethernet.
- Experience designing, implementing, managing and supporting enterprise level IP networks.
- Application support experience with network monitoring and analysis software.
- Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
- Endpoint connectivity and performance monitoring/problem isolation.
- Remote Access VPN (SSL and IPSEC) Troubleshooting (Fortinet preferred)
- Working knowledge of SDWAN technologies (Silverpeak preferred)
- Experience in implementing and managing firewalls and IPS (Fortinet and Cisco preferred)
- Proven ability to create technical documentation
- Proven ability to create technical diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
